Our Story
Forged from growing up in an inter-faith, civically active family and continuing with over half a century of life experience working for civil rights, women’s rights, citizen democracy, and social justice, I offer:
- Over 40 years professional experience as an educator, speaker, trainer, consultant, advisor and coach to thousands of nonprofit staff and board leaders across all mission domains (e.g., philanthropy, social services, health, civic/public affairs, education, religion, community building, arts and culture) – internationally, nationally, and regionally
- Consultant, trainer, advisor or coach to hundreds of NPOs of all mission domains and sizes, from United Way of America and the YWCA Executives of USA to all volunteer, grass roots organizations, representing a highly diverse set of communities by race, ethnicity, gender, wealth, religion, and geography
- Speaker/presenter/facilitator at several hundred conferences, seminars and workshops – nationally, internationally, and regionally
- Bridge builder guiding grass roots and grass tops leaders in their respective environments and, especially, in working together to address the most wicked, complex issues facing our society
- Founder of academic programs in nonprofit leadership and management at two universities with hundreds of professional alumni making a significant, beneficial difference in philanthropic and nonprofit organizations and collective initiatives regionally, nationally and globally
- Mentor to several dozen nonprofit and philanthropic leaders representing rich diversity of social experience, including work for racial equity, women’s rights, social justice, citizen empowerment, and interfaith/inter-cultural relations.
- Author of numerous academic and professional practice publications on nonprofit leadership, governance, organizational effectiveness, large scale collaboration and capacity building
- Creator or co-creator of major capacity building programs for nonprofit and public sector leaders and organizations that have received international awards or been cited by leading professional publications as premier in North America
